HERON?

Bad Hair who...?
The day started with a bit of snow.

Following the weeks unforseen events, and you must agree there is nothing worse than having a simple plan and being sidetracked rendering you helpless, I felt it was time to take a breather , take things easy, of course you all know that ain't gonna happen,
that would make you 2 days behind and because of this happening before, it's more like a year. But the plan was still to take it easy.

I just relaxed at my machine, just to do a couple of things. A burning temeperature, forced me to make the decision to go out to blow off the cobwebs, maybe that might sort me out. it did...

It took me a while getting organis
ed to go out, thought I'd use the opportunity to take some snaps but "No pressure" to take any. If anything interesting comes along, say, a beautiful sunset, naked lady or something similar then I'll get my camera out.

Once out, I took a shorter route than usual , if I had it in me I'd go as far as the shop, but I didn't, just thought I'd keep within reasonable limits - besides, this way takes me past the wetlands where I spotted the Grey Heron on March 4. I had no optomism about seeing the Grey Heron it would be now long gone, so you would assume, there are less suburban wetlands within a reasonable distance. Beside
s that was a couple of weeks ago now. My camera stayed in my pocket switched off, it's usually switched on taking that path, but with the path and the hedgerows full of birdlife that line it overlooked now with housing, its difficult to to have the freedom.

Just out of curiosity I glanced over at the wetlands, hoping to see some other wildlife. I didn't see any other wildlife, only a GREY HERON! it wasn't visible a
t first but it rose like a phoenix out of that shallow water and reeds.
Without my camera switched on, and the Heron on its way it was hard to get a photo.
I chased the heron over to farmland, I made camp at the stile. and waited just incase it came back this way.
It was freezing and started snowing, but I was determined to get my photo, although I knew how difficult that was going to be as my hands we
re getting ever increasingly numb, and was the bird ever going to return?
It did, and yes it was difficult getting a picture. The heron flew off into the distance without stopping at the wetlands, I think I was relieved in a way, I don't think I had the energy left to chase it ino the wetlands and then try and take photo's.
At least it shows that it may have chosen nearby to nest. Which may give me another chance
to get more photos of it. To see The Grey Heron Story photos of today and before visit them at flickr
