ARRESTING PLACE

It was an early start for me today. A lot of housework to get through, to get out of the way anyway, so I could concentrate on getting out, even though today was about getting over a busy day out yesterday, staying in and casually taking care of any chores.
When All the hard wor
k mentally and physically was tucked away I headed out (at last), it's the best feeling in the world, to feel the breeze on your face, it represents the freedom you feel when you've released yourself from the shackles of domesticites four walls and all the endless piles of chores it holds. come-on!

The weather was changeable, so the grass was slightly damp, but the wind had dried it out pretty well.

I took my usual country walk, the crops had grown taller since my last visit. I was just hoping those Alien flies had disappeared, or
natural selection had taken care of them. I spotted a few on the near side of the crops just beyond the first stile. At first look there weren't too many on the other side of the crops either. There was a point along the path near some hedgerows where a lot of the flies were in particular, but they seemed to be sticking to that one part, So I was able to sit down on the grassy verges, there's one spot where I like to hold-up for 20 mins, it's a good vantage point. The grass had grown long and slightly damp, I had nothing to throw over, a rug or something, so I tried to use my rucksack to sit on, which meant I had to empty it first, My fleece jacket got a little muddy, when I leaned back to rest on my elbow. I should really invest in a rug, or something more professional.
I noticed while I was sat there, one or two of these flies, but they weren't terrorrising me, there was as many wasp's, bees and other insects as these alien flies, so I was cool about it.
While I was sat calculating my viewing location from where I was sitting to places of interest, I noticed a Butterfly or maybe it was a Moth resting on a wild flower, I couldn't identify it though, (neither could any initial research when I got back home)
I then looked to the skies,
prompted by something huge coming my way, it was the Grey Heron I had spotted in early March, and the only one I've seen in my life. it flew past and beyond woods in the distance. I had my suspicions that a kind of honking sound was made by the Grey Heron on other walks, but I assumed it was from livestock at nearby farms. Research into this sound has proved that it is the Grey Heron.
There seemed to be one two more of these Alien flies than there was, and two became a menacing pack, I thought it was the pack I'd passed earlier, and that they were just one pack, and that they would move along soon.
I had already decided to turn back to head home after my rest, even though I really wanted to reach the other side and investigate the woodland, but I felt a little exhaustes following the housework and other stuff, plus I did
n't get much sleep the night before. But whilst resting I got an inspiritational second wind and decided to make my way around to the woodland. My plans were scuppered as it soosn became apparent that these Alien flies had infested the path I was about to travel on that would take me to the woodland, so I had no choice but to head home, they had infested that path also, where had they suddenly come from? I was out earlier today than last week when I saw them, maybe it's a time thing?

I made my way back home via the trackter tyre tracks through the crops.

I have an appointment in town tomorrow, I'll let you know how that goes.
