For the first time since possibly last summer, I hit my favoured trail. I am well and truly bushed, so again excuse any faltering grammar or lazy narrative, you are more than welcome to proof read and pull me up on this, you know who you are! The trail is fairly long, very long if you haven't walked it in a while. But the day was beautiful, bright and still, it was more early Spring than mid-Winter, and the temperature reflected this, and I couldn't resist the urge to go forth...
My first wildlife sighting once I'd past suburbia and I'd hit the trail, was a Sparrow-Hawk, I'm pretty sure it was, although if you were to tell me it was a kestrel or Barn-Owl I'd be convinced (I was pretty far away). further on I was to see, Blue-Tits, Chaffinch, Great-Tits and a Robin. I even chased a pair of Hares, that turned out to be Squirrels on closer inspection. Back to the Chaffinch, I saw one on the trail, and a pair on the way home, I don't think I've spotted one for a couple of years. Although the pair on the way home could have been a pair of Bullfinches, they were both awkward to i.d through the spikey branches, and I'm sure there was a flash of yellow (female).
Below is film of a Long-Tailed-Tit, taken this morning by yours truly. (This film is for you, because they are cute).
There will be a better version of this film anon.
There will hopefully be another podcast soon, or at least an audio blog, taken today.
