Ricky Meets...

Hope everyone had a good Christmas and holiday. I know I certainly did. It will be the new year soon. Wow!

Channel 4 has been airing programmes this week in which Ricky Gervais (A.K.A David Brent -'The Office') ('Extras') meets his showbiz heroes in a casual one to one interview. Tuesday evening (Boxing Day) saw Ricky meet Larry Sanders star Garry Shandling, unfortunatly though as soon as they were in the same room or space together the atmosphere seemed to become socially awkward. It appeared immediately obvious that Garry wasn't happy this "interview" was happening. Ricky was being funny, and casually ready to chill and have a few laughs but Garry (((Shandling) of the 'Garry Shandling Show') (A.K.A Larry Sanders)) was immediately on the defensive, maybe he'd been to see the recent movie 'Borat' and felt he was in for the same treatment as those poor unfortunate and unaware victims of the spoof 'Borat' movie. 'Borat' star Sacha Baron Cohen (A.K.A 'Ali G') and Ricky have showbiz' history together, so maybe Garry was right to be cautious. There was a lot of hesitancy from Garry, giving the impression that he hadn't really seen any of Ricky's work, even though he had, but it was as if he was trying to make a point . This became apparent when Garry Started to curmudgeonly analyse Both Ricky and his style of comedy. They both remarked upon their (separate) boxing experiences, which I felt was very apt under the circumstances. Ricky has "met" up with Larry David ('Curb Your Enthusiasm' Star and creator of Seinfeld) and Christopher Guest ('This Is Spinal Tap') in the same format.
