The One That Got Away
I’m sure Paul Weller could have found a better way to stick two fingers up at what the Brits had become over the last 16 years with more than just a lousy set. We the viewer, were treated to 4 tracks, the first three were probably the worst songs he’s ever written, and the final was a total disrespectful version of ‘A Town Called Malice’ which he brings out on these occasions, of course the pop-idol, big brother loving audience were none the wiser. I'm sure this infuriates his fans, because it was a good chance for him to change their perception of him as some kind of older version of the ghallagher brothers, with half arsed tunes that has a bit of guitar in it. Ray Winston introduced him as a genius and it wasn’t just a standard showbiz intro, because I’m sure a fellow artist can recognize the genuine effort of song writing and well thought out musical arrangement than just simplistic crowd pleasing chants of “Changing Man”, “From the Floorboards Up” or “Peacock Suit” these songs are hard to justify, difficult to write off, they go totally against the grain. If he’d have come on and thrashed out “Private Hell”, “English Rose”, “Internationalists”, “The Boy Who Cried Wolf”, “Illumination” and “The Pebble and A Boy” then maybe it would have been a true reflection of the real Weller, the man in the “Wildwood” and “You Do something to me” videos not the man in the Peacock suit
TheChanging Man
One Man who is changing is dutch international Darts WDO champion Raymond Van Barniveld. He is switching from the World Darts Organisation to the Professional Darts Championship, and some would say about time. The PDA Has, since the split hand picked the cream of the BDO to compete at PDA level. One player, and probably the cream of the cream already picked is barny, who stubbornly stuck to his guns and refused to switch. In many people’s eyes Barniveld is the only match for Phil Taylor (13 times PDC Champion). In a one off head to head Taylor came out on top, some would say Barny hasn’t had the challenge at WDO level, and needs the push the PDC will give him. It’s the equivelent of Real Madrid competing at non-league level and refusing to come to the Premiership after being asked year after year. that's no offence to the WDO.
Barny made his debut in the live premier darts league last-night. Not even first night nerves or the dramatic change of atmosphere or opposition could sway him, he is professional through and through, he is a massive player in terms of his darting value to the sport and the world of sport in general, he demolished his opponent 8-3, taylor watch your back!

First of all I’d like to kick of today’s entry with a brief but very loud AHH!! Sorry about that, but I had a workout earlier today and I am aching all over and haven’t had much of a break from work physically or Mentally.
Happy Valentines day everyone, now, to find a date....?
I spent more than I anticipated yesterday and haven’t budgeted to renew my Norton Internet Security subscription, (sorry did you assume I was going to do an article on the history of vaklentines day?) which ends on the 20th of this month, hopefully I’ll find enough dosh to cover that expense.
Has anyone else got a dvd recorder ‘disc recording only’ (without a hard drive) even if you had a hard drive model you still may want to keep a hard copy, the discs so far that I’ve used have been of poor quility, the picture has perfect clarity provided you stick to sp or above, but playback can be a little stuttery, and don’t even think about re-writing (taping over) that’s if you want a smooth playback. I got my discs from a reputable stationary company, so they should have been ok, I suppose they were acceptable a couple of times, but there isn’t enough room on them unless you are recording a radio show from your set top box, a video tape has on long plaay between 8 and 10 hours, and not a bad picture really, plus they are cheaper and you can tape over them many times before they ware out, I’m still recording over tapes I’ve had for years.

Le Office
The award winning Ricky Gervais hit ‘The Office’ is now set for a french polish. The French telivision network canal+ will debut the show in the spring starring Francois Berleand as office manager David Brent. Clearly like the US version it will adopt it’s own style.
